South Glens Falls Education Foundation Awards 2019 Educational Grants

The South Glens Falls Education Foundation awarded the first annual Educational Grants. The grant applications were received and reviewed by the SGF Education Foundation Grant Review Committee. The recipients were recognized at a social gathering held December 1, 2011 at Maude’s Restaurant in South Glens Falls. The grant recipients are, The Association for the Hearing Impaired, The Historical Society for Moreau and South Glens Falls and Colleen Hagadorn and Susan Moore-Palumbo, teachers at the South Glens Falls Senior High School.

Bennett F. Driscoll, Jr. representing The Association for the Hearing Impaired, Inc. received the grant to implement an extra-curricular sign language program at the Oliver Winch Middle School.

Stan Malecki, President of the Historical Society for Moreau and South Glens Falls and Nancy Purinton received the grant funds to create a permanent display of working historical tools for their educational programs.

Colleen Hagadorn and Susan Moore-Palumbo (not pictured) teachers at the South Glens Falls Senior High School received the grant to conduct a self-defense course for all members of the 2012 senior class.

2014: Grant to Shanon Fagle-Fedele-Grant used to fund Sources of Strength program
2014: Grant to Traci Ross-Grant used to fund Transition Program for 8th grade students at Oliver Winch Middle School

2015: Grant to Moreau Elementary School-Grant used to help fund Maker Space
2015: Grant to fund backpack program in South Glens Falls for one year

2017: Grant to Lori Kieran-Grant used to fund books for Battle of the Books program for all four elementary schools in South Glens Falls

2018: Grant to Abigail Bright and April Nedwell-Grant used to fund books for their classrooms
2018: Grant to Amy Dickinson-Grant used to help fund Sources of Strength program

2019: Grant to Dort Casey-Grant used to purchase ukulele kits for her classroom
2019: Grant to Steve Leonard-Grant used to reduce price of tickets to a show for high school students to expose them to the arts. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation
